Heather DeJesus Yates

Heather is a beach-raised and city-shaped woman, turned farm-girl by marriage. Heather is a wife, mama, business owner, speaker, blogger, occasional lawyer and legislative advocate, and author. Out of a passion to see women walk in freedom from shame, Heather woos women into God’s wide love through her disarmingly real-life stories, balanced with Gospel-centered hope and a good bit of humor. Her open confession of her own ever-healing wounds, along with her centering trust in God’s grand grace through Jesus Christ, invite women of all backgrounds to do the same to find healing and purpose for their pain. Heather is a proud Alumna of the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!), with a J.D. from the University of Florida. A lawyer by trade, Heather has worked in litigation and legislation, even for presidential nominees, but literally moved from law to grace when she accepted the position as Women’s Ministry Director at her local church in 2011.

After adopting their beautiful daughter domestically, and fostering a teen girl, Heather now currently spends her days making constant decisions to prioritize her relationship with God and the people most important to her, including the women she influences. Heather believes that though she is barren physically, by God’s grace she can be a mother of thousands by sharing the Gospel with the next generation of women. A guiding motto for her purpose-filled life of everyday mothering is, “plant small – root deep – bear life”. Her favorite days include her husband and toddler daughter either enjoying a slow day on their hay farm in the foothills of the Appalachians of Tennessee, or winding the back roads in her old but restored 1953 Chevy truck named Wild Pearl.
